Testimonials

  • "Jenny really helped us bring our narratives and visions into wonderful illustrations that we can use to co-develop our strategy with our stakeholders. Her approach was full of enthusiasm, curiosity, and consideration of what we were trying to do which led to her illustrations bringing our visions to life."

    Steve Earl, Edinburgh Futures Institute

  • "We are delighted with the work Jenny has produced on the inclusive design of our streets. Her skill in understanding the vision and style we needed and also her patience and persistence in getting the details right meant we were confident in getting the result we needed for the project. Jenny is a pleasure to work with and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend her."

    Sam Wakeling, Living Streets

  • Jenny’s talent for digital scribing our event had a real impact for participants, having such beautifully illustrated visual materials on the big screen to summarise provided a brilliant focus for the group to discuss follow on actions and everyone was impressed with the quality and speed at which they were produced. The materials to share afterwards on socials were a great way to demonstrate what the event achieved and Jenny was so thorough, diligent and easy to work with, which made it all a pleasure. I would thoroughly recommend.

Jenny’s live illustration was not only captivating but also incredibly inspiring for our attendees. Through dynamic and engaging artwork, Jenny brought the world of construction to life. Her ability to visually narrate the stories and possibilities within construction was truly remarkable and left a lasting impression on everyone present. The enthusiasm and passion Jenny demonstrated was contagious, and she played a significant role in sparking interest and excitement. We highly recommend Jenny for any event looking to inspire and motivate participants through the power of illustration.”

Live event illustration

Also called digital live illustration or graphic recording, I love creating visual sketch notes and find it a really effective way to engage event participants - with more 60% of us visual learners this is a great way to bring meetings, conferences, or other events to life on the day, and leaves you with a visual record you can share in reports, presentations and social media afterwards.

I typically create live illustrations digitally via an iPad, allowing you to show the developing illustration onscreen during online and in-person events as it is drawn. I provide the final illustration as both an image and timelapse video immediately following your event so you can share these straightaway with attendees and via social media.

Interested in having a live illustrator bring your event, meeting or conference to life? I’d love to hear more about your event.

Graphic Design and Infographics

I am experienced in bringing complex data to life through both infographics and graphic design for reports for academic, commercial and consultancy clients. Previous infographics clients include technical street illustrations for a Living Streets and Scottish Government report about inclusive design, data visualisation for V&A Dundee to form part of an exhibition, and infographics to share data-driven urban design and community engagement project findings as part of an Edinburgh Living Lab project for City of Edinburgh Council and University of Edinburgh. Report graphic design clients include The Stove Nework, Edinburgh Living Lab and the Edinburgh Futures Institute.

Given my background as an experienced Chartered Landscape Architect delivering built environment, academic, and co-design projects, I have particular specialism in working with clients to visually communicate their urban design, planning and placemaking projects in an engaging way to share back with funders or the public, as well as graphic design and illustration to support reports and other marketing and branding collateral.

Architectural Illustration

As an Urban Designer by training, I specialise in illustrations of the built environment related to themes of cities, sustainability, nature, people and places. My professional experience of built environment design processes, environmental sustainability, and facilitating stakeholder engagement workshops relating to active travel, green infrastructure and neighbourhood planning, means I have a particularly in-depth understanding and technical background on illustrations, sketch note commissions and creation of designs with these themes.

I specialise in creating high-quality visuals that clearly communicate the character of cities, local landmarks, public spaces and buildings. I work closely with clients to produce detailed illustrations and visuals of existing places or proposed developments, help visually document projects and processes, or bring community engagement workshops to life through live event illustration to visually summarise discussions in real-time. This might be to engage stakeholders, celebrate an existing place, promote your organisation or business or to create an impactful visual narrative as part of urban planning and placemaking work. Contact me to discuss how my illustrations can support your project.
